What HTML to PDF does
HTML to PDF saves a web page as a PDF. Paste an address and the page is opened in a real browser on vupdf's servers, allowed to load fully, scrolled through so lazily loaded pictures appear, and then printed. You can also upload a single .html or .htm file, such as an email template or an exported report.
You see the result before downloading: a live preview shows the pages exactly as they will print and refreshes when you change a setting. Choose the browser width from wide desktop to phone, the paper size, orientation and margin. Ads and trackers can be blocked, cookie banners and pop-ups closed, and background colors and images switched off for a plainer copy that uses less ink.
How to use HTML to PDF
- Type or paste the page address into the “Web address” box and click “Open page”, or choose an HTML file in the box next to it.
- Wait for the preview to appear; busy sites can take 15 to 30 seconds to load fully.
- In the menu, pick a screen size: Wide desktop, Desktop, Tablet or Phone.
- Choose the page size (A3, A4, A5, A6, US Letter or Legal), portrait or landscape, and a margin of none, small or large.
- Turn ad blocking, pop-up removal and background colors on or off, and check the preview again.
- Click the convert button and download the PDF, named after the page title.
Features and options
- Live print preview
- The preview is a picture of the page as it will appear in the PDF, with zoom and page-by-page navigation. You can tune the settings until the layout looks right instead of downloading several attempts.
- Choice of screen width
- Many sites change their layout with the window size. The desktop widths give the full layout with sidebars, while the tablet and phone widths often produce a single clean column that is easier to read on paper.
- Ad and tracker blocking
- When switched on, requests to ad and tracking services are not loaded and empty ad slots are hidden. The PDF is shorter and the article is not broken up by banners.
- Cookie notices and pop-ups removed
- Consent banners, newsletter boxes and similar overlays are closed or removed before printing, and page scrolling is unlocked if a pop-up had frozen it. This works for web addresses; an uploaded file is printed as it is.
When it helps
- You want to keep a copy of an online article or recipe that might change or disappear later.
- You need to attach the current terms or price page of a website to a complaint or a contract file.
- A developer wants a quick PDF of an HTML invoice or email template to check how it prints.
Tips and limits
- The server visits the page as a logged-out visitor, so content behind a login, a paywall or a members area shows up as the public version, usually the sign-in screen.
- Addresses on your local network or your own computer (such as localhost or a router page) cannot be reached. Save the page as an HTML file and upload it instead.
- An uploaded HTML file travels alone: images and stylesheets referenced by relative paths on your computer are not included. Use full web addresses for them, or put the styles inside the file.
Frequently asked questions
- Why does the PDF look different from what I see in my browser?
- The page is opened fresh on our server, without your cookies, logins or extensions, and at the screen width you selected. Try another screen size, or check whether the site shows different content to signed-in users.
- Which screen size should I choose?
- Desktop matches what most people see on a laptop. If the result has tiny text or busy sidebars, try Tablet or Phone; many sites then switch to a single column that prints larger.
- My HTML file has Turkish characters and no encoding set. Will they appear correctly?
- Usually yes. The tool tries UTF-8 first, then the encoding named in the file, and finally the Turkish Windows encoding, and it marks the page as UTF-8 before printing.
- Can I convert a page that needs a password?
- Not by address, because the server cannot sign in on your behalf. Open the page yourself, save it as an HTML file, and upload that file.
- Does vupdf keep the pages I convert?
- No. The page or file is processed only to create the PDF and the preview, and it is deleted right after the result is delivered. No account is needed.
