What Generate QR Code does

Generate QR Code creates a scannable code for a web link, plain text, an email, a phone number, an SMS, Wi-Fi login details, a contact card, a WhatsApp chat, a map location or a calendar event. Shop owners print them on menus and flyers, teachers put them on worksheets, and event organizers use them on posters and badges.

The code is built entirely in your browser while you type, so the content you enter is not uploaded anywhere. It is a static code: the information is stored in the pattern itself, with no redirect service behind it, so it never expires and keeps working without an account. Beyond the content, you can style the dots and corners, change colors, add a logo and a frame with a short caption, and the tool tells you how small the code can be printed while still scanning reliably.

How to use Generate QR Code

  1. Open Generate QR Code and pick a content type, for example Link / Text, Wi-Fi or Contact (vCard).
  2. Fill in the fields; the preview updates as you type, and a missing https:// in a web address is pointed out.
  3. Adjust the look if you wish: colors, dot pattern, corner style, logo, frame and margin.
  4. Check the Scan difficulty card for the minimum print width, and lower the error correction or shorten the text if the code is too dense.
  5. Click Finish QR code, then download it as PNG, JPG, WEBP, SVG or PDF, copy it to the clipboard, or put it on a blank or existing PDF.

Features and options

Nine content types
Each type builds the right format for phones: a Wi-Fi code joins the network (WPA/WPA2, WEP, open or hidden), a vCard saves a contact, an event code adds an entry to the calendar, and a location code opens the map at given coordinates.
Error correction you can choose
Pick Low, Medium, Good or Highest, which can recover from roughly 7%, 15%, 25% or 30% damage. A higher level suits codes on packaging or outdoor signs; a lower one keeps the pattern simpler and easier to print small.
Styling and logo
Choose from eight dot patterns and eight corner styles, give the corners their own color, use a transparent background, and add a logo image of up to 2 MB. When a logo is added, error correction switches to the highest level automatically so the covered area does not break scanning.
Frames with a caption
Wrap the code in a border, pill, bubble or corner frame, or put text above or below it, such as “Scan me” or “Menu”, so people know what the code is for.
Ready for print
Download in five formats, including vector SVG for sharp printing at any size. You can also lay out many copies on a blank PDF page with cutting lines, or place the code on chosen pages of your own PDF.

When it helps

  • A café prints a Wi-Fi QR code on table cards so guests can join the network without asking for the password.
  • A real estate agent adds a vCard code to a flyer so buyers can save their phone number and email in one scan.
  • A wedding couple puts an event code on the invitation that adds the date, time and venue to guests' calendars.

Tips and limits

  • Always test the final code with two different phones before printing a large batch.
  • Keep strong contrast: dark dots on a light background scan best. The tool warns you when colors are too similar or inverted.
  • Long texts make dense codes that must be printed larger. Use a short link where possible, and respect the minimum width shown on the Scan difficulty card.
  • A static code cannot be edited after printing and does not count scans. If the destination might change, point it to a page you control.

Frequently asked questions

Do the QR codes expire?
No. The content is written directly into the code, so it works for as long as the link or data inside it is valid. There is no subscription or redirect involved.
Which download format should I choose?
SVG for print and design software, since it scales without losing sharpness; PNG or WEBP for websites and documents, both of which can keep a transparent background; JPG and PDF always have a white background.
Why does my Wi-Fi code fail to connect?
Check that the network name and password match exactly, including capital letters, and that the security type is right. A WPA/WPA2 password needs at least 8 characters, and the tool warns if it is shorter.
Can I put the QR code on my existing PDF?
Yes. After finishing, choose Put on an existing PDF, select the pages and drag the codes into place. Unlike creating the code, this step uploads your PDF to vupdf's servers to add the codes, and the file is deleted afterward.
Is the content I type sent to a server?
No. The QR code itself is generated in your browser, so links, Wi-Fi passwords and contact details stay on your device unless you choose to place the code on an uploaded PDF.
