What Excel to PDF does
Excel to PDF turns a workbook into pages you can print, attach to an invoice or share without exposing your formulas. Spreadsheets are the hardest office files to print, because a sheet has no pages of its own: wide tables spill onto extra paper or shrink to unreadable text. This tool handles the page setup for you and accepts .xlsx, .xlsm, .xls, .ods and .csv files up to 15 MB.
Print scaling saved in the workbook is respected. Otherwise the columns are fitted to the width of an A4 page, rows continue onto further pages, and a sheet too wide for portrait is turned to landscape. Every visible sheet is printed with its charts and pictures, a footer shows the sheet name and page numbers such as 2 / 5, and you can choose a PDF/A level instead of a standard PDF.
How to use Excel to PDF
- Click the upload area or drop your workbook or CSV file onto it.
- Under “Output type”, keep “Standard PDF” or pick PDF/A-1b, PDF/A-2b or PDF/A-3b for archiving.
- Start the conversion; the page layout is worked out from the sheet's own settings and the width of its columns.
- Scroll through the preview to check that columns are readable and no sheet is missing.
- Download the PDF, which carries the name of your workbook.
Features and options
- Columns fitted to the page width
- When the workbook has no scaling of its own, every column is brought onto one page width and long tables continue downward page after page. You never get a PDF where the last two columns sit alone on a separate sheet.
- Landscape when the sheet is wide
- The tool measures how wide the used area of each sheet is and switches that sheet to landscape when it would be cramped in portrait. Narrow lists stay portrait, so one workbook can produce both orientations.
- Your own page setup wins
- Scaling you set in Excel, such as fitting a sheet to one page, is kept as it is, and so are custom headers and footers. If the automatic layout is not what you want, adjust the page setup in Excel and convert again.
- CSV files that come out right
- The tool works out whether a CSV uses commas or semicolons and whether numbers are written as 1,234.50 or 1.234,50. Files saved in older Windows encodings are read correctly, so Turkish letters such as İ, ş and ğ are not garbled, and column widths are set to fit the content.
When it helps
- You keep a price list in Excel and want to email customers a PDF they can print but not edit.
- Your accounting program exports a CSV with semicolons and Turkish characters, and you need a tidy printable report from it.
- A monthly budget workbook with a summary tab and a chart has to be filed with an archive that requires PDF/A.
Tips and limits
- Hidden sheets are not printed. If a sheet is missing from the PDF, unhide it in Excel and convert again.
- Formulas are recalculated, but links to other workbooks and web queries are not refreshed. If those figures matter, paste them as values before uploading.
- Password-protected workbooks cannot be opened. Remove the password in Excel first; sheet protection that only blocks editing is not the same thing.
- Upload limit: 15 MB. To pull tables back out of a PDF into a spreadsheet, use PDF to Excel instead.
Frequently asked questions
- Will every sheet of my workbook be in the PDF?
- Every visible sheet is included, one after another, in the order of the tabs. Sheets hidden in Excel are skipped.
- Why did one sheet come out in landscape and another in portrait?
- Orientation is decided per sheet from the width of the area that holds data. A wide sheet is turned to landscape so its columns stay readable, while a narrow one stays portrait.
- Which paper size and margins are used?
- Sheets are placed on A4 with narrow margins and centered horizontally. If the workbook carries its own scaling, its page setup is kept instead.
- Do cell comments appear in the PDF?
- No, cell notes and comments are left out, so only what is visible on the sheet is printed.
- Can a formula in my file reach the internet during conversion?
- No. External links are stripped and web functions are not refreshed, and macros are disabled. The workbook is processed only to create the PDF and deleted right after you receive the result.
