What Add Watermark does

Add Watermark stamps text or a picture across the pages of a PDF. People use it to mark drafts as DRAFT, label documents CONFIDENTIAL before sharing them, put a company logo on a price list, or write “Copy for bank use only” on an ID scan so it can’t easily be reused for something else.

You can write up to three lines of text in one of nineteen fonts, from plain sans-serif to handwritten script, or upload a PNG, JPG, WEBP or GIF image with its transparent background intact. A live page preview shows the result as you adjust the position, angle, transparency and size. The watermark can sit once in one of seven spots or repeat as a mosaic over the whole page, and it can be drawn over the content or blended underneath so text stays fully readable. It is also marked so that searching and copying text skip it.

How to use Add Watermark

Upload your PDF and pick the Add text or Add image tab.
Type your text and choose font, size, color and styling, or drop in your logo image and set its size.
Click a region on the page preview or choose Page center, or switch on Mosaic and pick a density.
Adjust Transparency and Angle; 45° gives the classic diagonal stamp.

Features and options

Text with real typography: Choose from sans-serif, serif, monospace and script fonts, set size and color, and add bold, italic or underline. Press Enter for a new line, up to three lines and 120 characters, for stamps like a company name above a date.
Image and logo watermarks: Upload a PNG, JPG, WEBP or GIF up to 10 MB; transparent backgrounds stay transparent. Pick Small, Medium or Large, or set the width relative to the page width.
Placement and mosaic: The page is divided into six regions plus the exact center, and you click where the mark should go. Mosaic repeats it in a grid of 6, 12 or 24 copies, which makes it much harder to crop out of a screenshot.
Over or under the content: Over draws the watermark on top of everything. Under blends it so dark text and pictures show through unchanged and only light areas take its color, which also works on scanned pages where a true background layer would be hidden.

Tips and limits

The PDF can be up to 50 MB; a password-protected file is unlocked with its password and comes back without the lock, so protect it again with Encrypt PDF if needed.
A watermark discourages misuse but is not a security measure. Someone with a PDF editor could still remove it, so combine it with Encrypt PDF for sensitive files.
For scans and exported documents with white backgrounds, choose Under so the watermark does not cover the text.
