What Edit PDF does
Edit PDF is a page editor in your browser for adding things to a PDF: a typed note on a delivery slip, an arrow pointing at a clause, a highlighted line, a logo in the corner or a signature at the bottom. Pages appear as large previews under a toolbar, and anything you place can be moved, resized, restyled or removed until you click Save and Download.
Beyond text boxes, you get a pen with presets such as highlighter, marker, pencil and fountain pen, plus rectangles, ellipses, circles, lines and arrows with adjustable line styles. The Pages panel handles page-level work too: add blank pages, reorder, rotate or delete them. Undo, redo, keyboard shortcuts and mouse-wheel zoom keep longer sessions comfortable.
How to use Edit PDF
- Upload your PDF and wait while the pages are prepared.
- Pick a tool such as Text, Highlight, Image or Arrow, then click or drag on the page.
- Select any item to adjust its font, color, stroke width or opacity in the Properties panel.
- Use the Pages panel to add a blank page, move pages, rotate them or delete them.
- Click Save and Download to get the edited PDF.
Features and options
- Styled text and dates
- Add text anywhere with 20 font families, any size and color, plus bold, italic and underline. The Date tool places today’s date in one click.
- Pens and highlighting
- Freehand drawing comes with presets from fine liner and ballpoint to felt tip and brush. Highlight marks a passage by dragging over it.
- Shapes, lines and arrows
- Draw rectangles, ellipses, circles, lines and arrows with solid, dashed or dotted strokes and four arrowhead styles. Check and cross marks tick items off in one click.
- Images, signatures and links
- Place a logo or stamp image, draw a signature and drop it on the page, or turn an area into a clickable web link you can test before saving.
- Page management
- Insert blank pages, change the order, rotate single pages and delete the ones you do not need, in the same session as your other edits.
When it helps
- A teacher marks up a PDF essay with highlights, arrows and margin comments.
- A freelancer adds a logo, a date and a drawn signature to an invoice.
- A project manager circles problem areas on a floor plan and deletes an outdated page.
- Someone types answers onto a simple form with no fillable fields and ticks boxes with check marks.
Tips and limits
- The editor adds content on top of the page; it does not rewrite text already in the PDF. To change wording, edit the source file or try PDF to Word.
- The Eraser removes only strokes, lines and shapes you added, never the PDF’s own content.
- The editor handles up to 300 pages and 50 MB. For longer files, cut out the part you need with Split PDF first.
- Covering something with a shape only hides it visually; use Redact PDF to remove sensitive information for good.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I change the existing text in my PDF?
- No. Edit PDF adds text, drawings, images and links over the pages but does not rewrite the original wording.
- Why doesn’t the Eraser remove text from the original page?
- It is built to clean up only your own additions, so you cannot accidentally damage the document underneath.
- How do I add a signature?
- Click the signature button, draw your signature and choose Use. Then click the page where it should go and drag its corners to resize it.
- My PDF has more than 300 pages. What can I do?
- Split it with Split PDF, edit the pages that need changes, and join the parts again with Merge PDF.
- Which keyboard shortcuts work?
- Ctrl+Z undoes, Ctrl+Y redoes, Delete removes the selected item and Esc clears the selection. The mouse wheel zooms.
- Is a signature added here legally valid?
- It is a drawn image of your signature, fine for many everyday documents but not a qualified electronic signature.
